Basic Animal Breeding Methods, written by Mohan Singh Thakur in 2021, is one long page with four parts: Introduction, Methodology, Systems of Breeding, and Conclusion. Part two, Methodology, and part three, Systems of Breeding, make up the journal as long as it is because they break down the information into many tiny detailed sub-parts. It is also filled with tables, charts, and pictures to follow along. I am mainly focusing on part three, Systems of Breeding, because it is about the many breeding styles, such as inbreeding, outbreeding, line-breeding, etc. Thakur states in her journal, "Inbreeding is classified into two types: close Inbreeding and line breeding... Close inbreeding is mating between sibs or between parents and progeny to achieve inbred lines with a relatively high degree of homogeneity... Line breeding is a milder form of close inbreeding is in which the relationships of mated individual is kept as close as possible to some ancestor." (Thakur, 2021, p.1). Even though it sounds wrong, close and line breeding has been perfected throughout the years to keep it safe and not cause significant issues. It is being used to keep an animal purebred. An example would be Arabian horses; they get bred by using linebreeding to ensure they are true purebred by breeding a few generations and distant relatives to the horse.
